Join us at the Cedarburg Cultural Center for our Spotlight on Immigration.
Our panelists include: Cain Oulahan - Attorney with Oulahan Immigration Law, SC; Dana Glasstein - English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor at Waukesha Technical College; and Astrid Gieske - recently naturalized US citizen from Germany.
The evening will end a viewing of The Flagmakers, a National Geographic Documentary Film, about employee-owned Eder Flag in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. which sews and ships five million American flags a year. The flagmakers--locals, immigrants, and refugees--stitch stars and stripes as they wrestle with identity and belonging.
The event is co-sponsored by Flyrite Tangle Free Flags, a local Cedarburg company owned by Michal and Todd Riege.
Admission is free. Please register in advance so we know how many community members to expect.
Donations will be taken for the International Institute of Wisconsin which collects supplies to assist newly arrived refugees establish homes in our community.
