The State Democracy Research Initiative and the Elections Research Center at UW-Madison invite you to join us for an Election Matters 2025 Panel that will explore the impact, funding, and legal context of state supreme court races. Our panelists will include Professor Barry Burden (UW-Madison Political Science), Professor Michael Kang (Northwestern Pritzker School of Law), and Professor Quinn Yeargain (MSU College of Law), and the panel will be moderated by Professor Miriam Seifter (UW Law School). You can attend this panel in person in room 7200 at the UW Law School, or virtually over Zoom.
Our LWVOzWa Youth Vote Group will be hosting with keynote speaker Dr. Jeremy Kedziora, Ph.D., MSOE Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence Computer Science and Software Engineering. Educators Kristen Mickie from Cedarburg High School and Carrie Smolinski from Grafton High School will round out the panel.

At the LWVUS 2024 Convention, delegates voted to develop a LWV position on the Federal Judiciary as an essential component of US democracy. The study‘s purpose includes, but is not limited to, addressing concerns and clarifying judicial accountability, transparency, independence, and ethics. The scope addresses the Supreme Court as well as the other Article III federal courts. Join LWVOzWa members for a lively, focused, and informative consensus building meeting.
