Book & Video Club
Our Book Club committee works with our members and committees (Voter Services, DEI, Environment, and Membership) to research and recommend pertinent, interesting and timely books for group discussion. They identify facilitators, coordinate, promote, and host book club events for our members and the public.
Communications & Technology
Our Communication Committee sets graphic design standards and organizes all internal and external LWVOZ communications. They develop, maintain, and enhance our website; write, edit, and publish member materials; research, manage, and update social and virtual media tools; handle photography and videography; develop public relations opportunities and foster local print media relationships.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee builds trusting relationships with internal and external communities, recognizing strength in diversity. It creates access to and encourages member participation in DEI trainings; hosts book discussions and speaker events; collects and evaluates demographic data; seeks pathways for culturally inclusive collaboration.
Environment
Our Environment Committee informs members about ongoing and emerging environmental issues affecting our county, state, country, and planet. The committee seeks out and develops partnerships with local conservation and preservation organizations; keeps members abreast of opportunities to engage in clean-up efforts; hosts speakers and community events.
Membership
Our Membership Committee reaches out to non-members who’ve expressed interest in LWVOZ, informs them about the significance of League work, and encourages their active involvement. The committee hosts new member orientation gatherings, book club discussions, and member social events. Member engagement, retention, and record keeping round out its responsibilities.
Programs & Events
The Programs & Events Committee pulls together all the details needed for member and community activities, whether educational or social, virtual or in-person. It plans programs, arranges venues and menus, coordinates speakers and entertainment, manages the reservation process, and greets guests. Essentially any and everything to make attendees feel welcome!
Voter Services
Our Voter Services Committee educates, engages, and empowers citizens to participate in the election process. It provides trained, qualified, and unbiased speakers and other staff for candidate forums; distributes voter information and promotes voter registration; engages all in activities that Get Out the Vote; educates on changes to our voting systems; partners with organizations that fight for fair district voting maps. Voter Services has five sub-committees to focus their work: Voter Registration, Vote411, Candidate Forums, Youth Vote, and Education & Announcements.
